“Happiness, true happiness, is an inner quality. It is a state of mind. If your mind is at peace, you are happy. If your mind is at peace, but you have nothing else, you can be happy. If you have everything the world can give – pleasure, possessions, power – but lack peace of mind, you can never be happy.” Dada Vaswani.
They always say that money cannot buy happiness. That is true to some point, but money can make you happy in different ways. We live in a world where we constantly seek out instant gratification. We always need to possess the latest and greatest technology or gadget out there, even though we are completely satisfied with the ones we have already.
Whether it is buying the latest signature purse, shoes, clothes or the biggest television in the market, the satisfaction will only last so long before its novelty wears out. Then, we will set our eyes on the next item to acquire in order to get our “high”
Real-life experiences have somewhat of the opposite effect. If you plan a big vacation, it may seem like a financial burden at first, but since you experience the new place, it seems well worth the money. You will not talk about your new mobile phone purchase five years from now, but you will definitely still be talking about a great travel experience many years later.
NATURE CAN BE THE BEST EXPERIENCE
It is not always necessary to spend a lot of money to get a good experience. With busy lifestyles these days, you can take a break sometime and just go sit in the park or near a body of water. Try not to think about anything and observe nature and your surroundings. You never know what you could see that could change your perspective on life.
TRAVEL WILL LEAVE YOU SPEECHLESS AND THEN TURNS YOU INTO A STORYTELLER
Whether you go on a vacation with your significant other or your family members, you will always talk about your experiences. You could spend a thousand dollars on a new television that you will enjoy for a few years until it gets outdated, or you could spend that money traveling to a new destination and experience new things. Chances are that you will be more fulfilled when you get a new perspective on a different city, state or country that will leave you talking about it for years to come.
MONEY IS WELL WORTH SPENT WHEN IT MAKES YOU HAPPY
Talking about a trip that you made in the past just naturally makes you happy. You cannot say that about any possessions that you purchased. When you experience a new place or new environment, you will likely find yourself saying, “This was worth it!” It is hard to say that about the newest gadget that you purchased even though it changed your life at that time.
EXPERIENCES ARE MEANINGFUL TO YOU
Let us face it; money can be tough to come across nowadays. It seems like we are all trying to save enough money just to be able to survive when we retire. I believe that we can always make more money but we cannot make more time. Time for us to create meaningful memories. Almost all of us take some sort of a big vacation once every two years. The reason why is because they actually mean something important to us. It is moments like that which you cherish. Quality moments spent with friends or family on life’s journey. Those experiences are what make the money seemed well worth spent. If you are truly looking to live a more fulfilling life, create new experiences in life rather than acquire new things.
You may find that you are happier even when you spend less money. Take some time to create your own experiences to see what makes you truly happy.
You may indeed be surprised to find out that money does not buy your happiness. All you need is to create new experiences in order to get the gratification you need to be really happy. #secretstoahappylife #genuinelyhappylife #happinessisastateofmind
